Programs

Accelerate transparency: pbgh supports increasing transparency about healthcare cost and quality, while also changing to commercial payment models that move toward paying for value. After the consolidated appropriations act, 2021, new hospital pricing data was slowly made available, however it has not been user friendly nor comprehensive enough for purchasers to be able to leverage effectively. Pbgh works with purchasers to effectively leverage price transparency in their fiduciary obligations. Pbgh also supports members in evaluating quality of clinical care, particularly for advanced primary care, to bring transparency to the quality of care being delivered.
Purchaser value: pbgh partners with employers who purchase health care for their employees to create measurable progress toward a more efficient and effective healthcare system. Pbgh supports health care purchasers and members, by providing services including: education, technical assistance, and access to networking and partnership opportunities.
Influence policy: pbgh represents its member organizations with a strong, unified voice in washington, dc by testifying in congress, communicating with the white house and agency staff, serving on key advisory bodies, and publishing issue briefs, blog posts, and op-eds about current topics in healthcare. Pbgh advocacy focuses on the "value agenda" of health reform including: payment reform and alignment, use of measures to support value-payment systems, data transparency, fostering of competitive markets, and improving advanced primary care and maternal health.
