Mission
To bring fine symphonic and choral music to the quincy area, to provide ensembles for local musicians to perform, and to offer programs that encourage young musicians' interest and skills in such music.
Programs

Quincy area youth orchestra (qayo) provided music instruction & performance opportunities to area student musicians in grades 7 to 12. Traveled to macomb, il for masterclasses with wiu faculty. Performed side-by-side with the quincy symphony. Performed a spring concert including works by rimsky- korsakov, african american composer samuel coleridge-taylor, and 4 living composers. Attended the 2nd heart of illinois youth orchestra festival (eiu campus). Students with financial need received free tuition for all activities. Qayo served students from 16 schools in 4 counties.
Quincy area youth chorus (qayc) concert choir (grades 7 to 12) and kinderchor (grades 3 to 7) performed fall & spring concerts, and joined the quincy symphony and choruses for carmina burana. Concerts featured songs in several languages. Students with financial need received free tuition. Qayc served students from 34 schools in 8 counties.
Encore symphony volunteer council provides volunteer support and general fundraising for qsoa with a focus on youth music education. Held wizard of oz sing-along and other small fundraisers. Provided 8006 to qsoa for youth programs, 1248 to qsoa endowment, and 8745 in grants to high school musicians for summer music study, private lessons, concerto competition awards, and quincy's public & parochial school music programs. Manned ticket desks at concerts, and hosted after-concert receptions.
