Children Support Services - We funded 747 hours $13,867 of childcare services and $1,673 of pre-school fees so parents could get to work. We funded activities for the homeless children and their parents totaling $6,213 for attendance to the VC Fair with food and rides the Pumpkin Patch with food and rides 4th of July firework display entry fees and dinner outdoor movie nights on a big screen with meals included. We also paid $3,354 for holiday parties with gifts for an estimated 70 children. Homeless children often dont experience activities that other children take for granted. The goal of our activities is to introduce the kids to new experiences create family bonding and promote confidence as the kids feel more on par with their peers.

Housing Support Services - We funded $18,573 of rent and utility assistance to house 9 families including 16 children. We also paid $3,199 for basic furnishings such as beds linens dressers and kitchen tables etc. for 3 families. One of the greatest obstacles for a homeless family seeking housing is securing a move-in deposit. Staying housed can also be a challenge for many single moms we serve. Their monthly budgets are extra vulnerable to missed work hours due to a childs illness a car mechanical issue or employers variable assigned work hours. We help mothers at risk of losing their housing catch up on their rent in arrears. It is much more cost effective and less disruptive to help someone stay housed than it is to help a family once they become homeless. A prior eviction can block future housing opportunities given the competitive housing market and low vacancy rate in Ventura County. Domestic disruptions caused by housing instability takes an emotional toll on adults and especially the children. We want to protect the kids.
