Mission
Our mission is to help the children and families of Uganda have a better life. Toward this goal we have developed an orphanage and a preschool and primary schoool, dug wells for clean water, provided skills training for single mothers and donated money and food to the needy.
Programs
3 programs
In order to build a soccer field and primary school classrooms, we purchased three acres of land from a neighbor property owner. Property values have increased since we have moved in. We hope this large secondary school-sized soccer field will be able to provide opportunities for area competitions and increased revenue to Ray of Hope Jinja.
We have children in Uganda for whom we are providing food, clothing and a clean and safe family home environment. Expenditures for this program include: $28,913 for food, $8,748 for building maintenance, $7,860 in stipends to the teachers and workers, $5,619 for utilities, $28,971 for medical, $1,151 for transportation, $19,200 in property taxes, $7,852 in school office expenses, $1,859 for clothing and $5,117 in other miscellaneous expenses.
This year our donations to the needy and community improvements included skills training for single mothers, five separate wells for clean water and food for the poor. Each well costs approximately $9,000 and they generally serve clean water for more than 200 people. At Ray of Hope the well will be used to irrigate the soccer field and therefore keep it up and fresh looking when it handles local soccer competitions on weekends.
