Mission
Rayo de Sol works with children, adolescents and adults in vulnerable communities in Matagalpa, Nicaragua, where poverty levels are high and social services are extremely limited. Currently, the organization implements five programs, including: Spiritual Development, Educational Quality, Integral Community Health, Youth in Action and Community Development. These programs are designed to respond to the pressing needs in these communities and improve the quality of life of more than 5,000 people. Rayo de Sol currently provides program services in 35 schools and communities in Matagalpa, striving to improve health, education and nutrition services for the most impoverished communities, as well as creating new economic opportunities for adults. This work is done in coordination with local organizations, community leaders and public agencies. Since beginning work in Nicaragua, significant improvements have been documented in nutritional levels, health and hygiene and permanence of children
