Mission

Responding to immediate needs, we provide resources that improve the quality of life for members of the oglala lakota nation and create meaningful opportunities to build understanding for our volunteers.

Programs

2 programs

Our winter heating program operated from october 2023 through march 2024. Our staff drove over 15,000 miles during the season and distributed 650 firewood deliveries. Twelve thousand gallons of propane and home heating oil were distributed to those families requesting assistance in the community. 180 households were provided with emergency one-time utility assistance.

Expenses: $112K

Our garden program set another production record in 2024. It was the year of the eggplant, and re-member staff were thrilled to partner with porcupine elderly meals to introduce almost 100 community elders to ratatouille. The organization cultivated 1,750 pounds of fresh vegetables and distributed the produce in the community. Vegetables grown included chokecherries, cucumbers, herbs, peppers, squash, and tomatoes. Two new high-tunnel greenhouses were erected. At the end of the season, the organization procured a custom-built veggie wagon to distribute vegetables in 2025.
