Mission

To develop grade-level readers and capable leaders by preparing teens to serve as tutors and role models for younger students, resulting in improved literacy outcomes for both.

Programs

3 programs

Summer leadership academy - teens create resumes, visit colleges, participate in mock interviews, collaborate on group projects, and compete in our charity-focused public speaking competition during a six-week, intensive leadership development experience.

Expenses: $139K

Teen publishing project - teens author children's books that are sold and distributed to children who would not otherwise have access to diverse, relevant, and engaging texts. The organization sells or grants thousands of books each year.

Expenses: $14K

College mentorship program - teens are paired with an adult mentor for assistance and support in the college selection, admissions, and financial aid processes, increasing the likelihood of college enrollment, persistence, and completion.
