Programs

1 program

Seasonal safe@home a program focused on seasonal based repairs, volunteer & homeowner education, and additional volunteer opportunities. Each season has a specific initiative that drives the focus, as described below:spring initiative national rebuilding dayon the last saturday in april, hundreds of volunteers are mobilized to perform repairs and modifications for low-income elderly homeowners in the city of dayton. This has been rtd's signature event for the past 30 years.summer initiative youth & corporate rebuild projectssince the summer of 2009, we have worked with local youth groups, work camps and companies on exterior maintenance and community projects. Throughout the summer, we provide an opportunity for groups with large projects to allow them a chance to impact area neighborhoods in need. Many of the projects involve exterior painting for homes that have been cited by code enforcement. We also look for ways to help our community by organizing neighborhood-wide clean ups. Our goal is to provide a clean and safe area for the residents.autumn initiative heat the townsince 2010, we have collaborated with hvac contractors for our heat the town event. The contractors provide free furnace tune-ups for our identified homeowners. We have an arrangement with a local supplier to donate furnaces in the event they are needed and grants are secured to provide the installation.winter initiative safety kitsthe installation of our safety kits addresses safety, falls prevention and energy efficiency by ensuring that smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors are properly installed, handrails and grab bars are inspected and general safety issues are managed.
