Education: in 2024, recreation northwest continued its expansion into the bellingham school district incorporating parkscriptions into classrooms at all four middle schools, bellingham high school, squalicum high school, options high school, and bellingham family partnership. During the 2024-2025 school year. These classes focus on the mental health of students, teaching them the benefits of nature and incorporating plant identification and mindfulness practices.

Expenses: $90K

Recreation: in 2024, recreation northwest continued our advocacy work at local and state levels. Through our communications efforts we encourage our constituents to be actively involved in local initiatives and projects that align with our mission. In the city of bellingham, our next advocacy project will be working towards completing the coast millennium trail. Our vision is to create a cultural heritage trail as part of the experience for locals and visitors as they get outdoors and reconnect with nature and each other. At the state level we supported washington wildlife & recreation coalition (wwrc) and washington recreation and parks association (wrpa) by participating in advocacy day in olympia. Recreation northwest staff met with our legislators from the 40th and 42nd districts to thank them for their past, present and future support for our programs.
