The REES Theatre Inc.s mission is to restore maintain and operate the historic Rees Theatre as an arts cultural and educational resource for the use and benefit of the community. In late 2022 the organization completed the final phase of its renovation and restoration of the theatre building and opened to the public. 2024 marked The REES Theatres second full year of operation as a center for arts education and culture.

Programs

In its 2024 programming season the Rees Theatre presented an exciting and diverse slate of movies performances educational programs and community events. Highlights from the busy year included: *Cinema - Seasoned Citizens matinees childrens movies; *Theater - Community theater and comedy acts; *Music - Live performances featuring bands and artists representing a diverse array of musical genres; *Education - Workforce training and seminars workshops academic lectures documentary presentations elementary field trips academic award programs speech and debate team showcase; *Civic - public forum nights service and community club meetings fundraisers and award presentations; and *Celebrations - graduation parties holiday parties class reunions wedding events. For each happening at The REES volunteers welcomed the community serving as ushers concessions workers and post-event cleaners. Paid audio-visual technicians and artistic directors ensured that presentations at The Rees were of a high caliber. Even when not hosting an event or program the Rees Theatre serves as a center for community connection. The restored lighted marquee continues to enhance the downtowns streetscape announcing community events messages of support and celebration and as an official Marshall County emergency messaging board messages of public importance. Individuals and groups may sponsor their own marquee posts to publicize non-profit events proclaim happy occasions or commemorate milestones. The Rees Theatre looks forward to 2025 and another year of bringing the community together to celebrate arts education culture and milestones.
