Para dance received formal approval from the united states olympic and paralympic committee to host the inaugural para dance sport competition in north america. The event, the 2024 para dance sport usa open, was held august 10 and 11, 2024 at the ford community and performing arts center in dearborn, michigan. Athletes representing 22 countries participated in this international wheelchair ballroom dance competition, which promoted accessibility, inclusion, and the advancement of adaptive sports. Through collaboration with visit detroit and the detroit sports commission, the reimagine life foundation successfully elevated awareness of mobility and wellness initiatives for individuals with disabilities while positioning southeast michigan as a leader in adaptive recreation.
Research related to spinal cord and traumatic brain injury - reimagine life foundation funded treatment for spinal stenosis, which removes fat from the epidural space, helping those who are treated to have less pain standing or walking. This treatment is good for those with co-morbidities and the elderly, as it is minimally invasive. The 3-d virtual reality motion method involves visualizing human movement patterns, which mitigate many of the current issues related to remote monitoring of physical therapy.
The stroke support group gives survivors, caregivers, and family members a place to make friends and socialize with others who have shared similar life experiences and enjoy outings and a 2-day camp.
