Richmond Community-Owned Development Enterprise

Advocacy: in 2024, richmond land advanced community-led advocacy through the richmond our power coalition (ropc). Staff participated in coalition governance and policy coordination, contributed to the just transition community action plan discussions, and supported community mobilization around city council actions related to the chevron settlement and just transition funding. The organization also served in grants review activities within ropc's project support fund and helped shape coalition operating agreements and conflict-resolution practices to strengthen shared advocacy infrastructure.

Resident stewardship: in 2024, richmond land continued to lay the foundational groundwork for long-term resident stewardship of community-owned housing. The program focused on nurturing resident leadership, maintaining the historic principle that communities thrive when those who live in a place hold meaningful decision-making power over it. Richmond land refined and shares stewardship education materials, strengthened communications with prospective and current resident-participoants, and facilitated early engagement activities connected to governance readiness. These efforts reinforce a multi-generational vision of community ownership, fostering the skills, relationships, and confidence necessary for residents to guide and sustain permanently affordable homes over time.
