Mission

Our mission is to work in partnership with stakeholders to expand access to recreational green space, hiking and equestrian trails, native habitat, and riparian wetlands in Long Beach and the surrounding cities.

Programs

1 program

Land Preservation: The coalitions most prominent work is to stop the industrial development of one of the last remaining large parcels of open land along the Los Angeles River. We advocate for this land to be developed as a public park, citing decades of city and county plans that had previously designated the site for open space. We view the proposed industrial development as a direct violation of environmental justice principles and a step backward for the communitys health and vitality. Our advocacy includes legal action, organizing community protests, and petitioning city officials to honor their previous commitments to greening the river corridor.
