Rockland independent living center, inc. Dba bridges works to improve accessibility and enhance quality of life for people with disabilities.
Programs

Independent living services (ils) services are provided to people with disabilities (pwd), their families, government, businesses, and the community. Core services: education, information and referrals, advocacy on disability rights, employment support, life skills training, and peer counseling/support groups. Specialized services: assistance with social security, medicaid, and other programs; learning skills and housing options necessary to live independently in the community; training in providing an architecturally accessible environment (i.e. Ramps); and voter registration. Ils provides services to thousands of people with disabilities in rockland county.
Veterans bridges implements the pfc joseph p. Dwyer veteran peer support program which serves veterans with post-traumatic-stress-disorder and traumatic brain injury. Peer counseling is provided by other veterans who are trained in military behavioral health. Bridges also implements the veterans accessible transportation program which provides door-to-door transportation for rockland county veterans to and from their medical appointments at va hospitals in montrose and castle point.veterans directed care program helps veterans with long-term care needs to remain at home. Veterans hire, train, and supervise their own personal care attendants while bridges provides the case management and administrative services.
Integration services bridges serves as the rockland county reentry task force coordinator, implementing a reentry program for individuals returning to the community after incarceration by providing case management and reducing recidivism. Bridges also implements the intellectual and developmental disabilities alternative to incarceration (iddati) program by providing case management services for individuals with i/dd. Bridges implements the substance abuse and mental health services administration (samhsa) re-entry program for individuals returning to the community with substance use and/or mental health disorders by providing case management.
BRIDGES is the sole member/owner of Connections: Employment & Marketing Services, LLC, a subsidiary of BRIDGES with a mission to provide accessible employment opportunities for Veterans and people with disabilities. The four Independence Cafs located at the Pomona Rockland County Office Building, Congers Lake Memorial Park, New City Court House, and Suffern Library are staffed by veterans and people with disabilities. The Cafs offer pre-packaged breakfasts and lunches purchased from local food establishments, as well as other grab-and-go convenience items.Unique Boutique BRIDGES operates a store in its Welcome Center at the Palisades Center Mall that sells unique gift items made by and for people with disabilities under consignment agreements with vendors with disabilities. Items include candles, soaps, artwork, cards, sweatshirts, bags, and more.
Other programs and assitance that support the functions and mission of the organization are food recovery, chore services, equine therapy and non-emergent transportation.
