Mission

Ronald mcdonald house of houston, inc. (rmhh) offers a home away from home to families with seriously ill children being treated in the texas medical center. Rmhh has three "house" facilities: holcombe house, two in-hospital houses, and four in-hospital family rooms.

Programs

Ronald mcdonald house houston inside texas children's hospitalthe texas children's hospital ("tch") house offers nineteen bedrooms for overnight sleep accommodations and day napping for families with children who are inpatients at tch. The house has a kitchen, dining room, laundry room, library/computer room, and quiet room for families to use at their convenience. This house, in addition to overnight stays, offers daily usage of common areas for caregivers to relax, find a bite to eat, and/or talk with volunteers and other parents. This house provides the comforts of home within minutes of the child's treatment area and relieves some of the stress of spending hours or days in a sterile waiting room environment. Rmh operates a total of ten family rooms, lounges, and family kitchens in different locations throughout tch. These areas are adjacent to inpatient, intensive care, and outpatient care units and offer a quiet sitting area, dining tables, television, snacks, fresh coffee, and periodic meals provided by volunteers. Many are open and available to families on a 24/7 basis. Additional emphasis in 2024 placed on food insecurity and providing at least one (1) meal per day at each program location. This is being done through our joyfull eats program that seeks in-kind and financial donations for this program.
