Rosies Theater Kids Inc

Acte ii (a commitment to excellence) is rtkids' nationally recognized 7-year performing arts training program, serving new york city public school students in grades 6-12. Students receive full scholarships for 7 years (a total of 685 hours) of sequential, in-depth training in voice, music, ballet, tap, theater dance, and drama. High school students are also members of a performance ensemble that meets on saturdays and works with members of the new york city arts community to develop special pieces for public performances. Approximately 150 students participate in acte ii each year. Acte ii uses the arts as a catalyst to develop critical life skillssuch as collaboration, leadership, and compassionand encourage excellence both in and out of the rehearsal room. Rtkids invests in acte ii students through several education initiatives to ensure students' success in all areas of their lives. For rising 8th graders, our readiness intensive secondary education (r.i.s.e.) initiative provides students and families with application and audition assistance for entry into specialized or performing arts high schools, including individual coaching for solo/group auditions and interview skills. The arts plus (a+) curriculum provides academic tutoring and mentorship, college application guidance, and formalized sat preparation. In 2014, rtkids established the scholastic and artistic merit (sam) scholarship, which provides one or two acte ii seniors each year with a scholarship to cover gaps in student aid ($1.8m awarded to date).

Acte ii high school students participate in the arts plus initiative, which supports students' academic success through structured tutoring, formalized sat preparation provided by atlas test prep, and intensive college admissions counseling. Year after year, 100% of our students graduate from high school (compared to the city's rate of 80%) and 95% of our students in grades 9-12 maintain at least a 3.2 gpa. 100% of our students are accepted into college or higher education, and many have received full or significant scholarships at noted institutions.
