We know that children are too often the "collateral damage" of intimate partner violence, suffering silently in the background while one partner abuses the other. We know that abuse is a learned behavior passed from generation to generation. And we know that we want to help break that cycle of suffering and family violence. We employ a full-time child therapist to work with children who have endured domestic violence in their homes.

Nearly all the victims who come to the family justice center for assistance request restraining orders to protect themselves from their abusers. Our legal team assists in preparing the restraining order petitions, files them with the court, picks them up from the court once the order is signed, reviews the order with the client, and arranges with a private process server to serve the order to the respondent. We also offer court preparation workshops as well as court accompaniment.

We offer a host of services to victims including crisis intervention, case management, safety planning, danger assessments, legal services for the preparation of restraining order petitions and so much more. Because collaboration is key to our mission, if a victim needs a particular service, we will make sure she/he gets it. I.e. Forensic exams for non fatal strangulation, emergency shelter, child support services, etc.
