In 2024, Safetogether Initiative advanced the engineering and validation pathway for its 2022 patent US No. 11,679,176 B2, Method and System for LED-based Viral and Bacterial Removal system that removes airborne viruses and bacteria in a single ventilation pass. Designed to exceed ASHRAE Standard 241 for controlling infectious aerosols, this system integrates high-efficiency particle filtration, photocatalytic UV/LED sterilization, and AI-powered threat and pathogen identification. The technology was customized for both new and retrofit HVAC systems in schools, hospitals, transit vehicles (e.g., school buses, subways, etc.), and other public spaces. It includes real-time air quality monitoring and advanced threat characterization. Engineering for third-party lab testing is underway and will be presented to major infrastructure and transportation partners.
