Following Saint Pio's example, the Saint Pio Foundation sponsors many charitable projects in support of the less fortunate, among which are the "Panis Angelicus" initiative which aims to provide needy and struggling American households with nutritious food products, and the Pizza for a Smile initiative that provides several thousand pizzas around the United States of America, and that are handed directly to needy recipients with words of encouragement in exchange for a smile. The program has been launched in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and in the New York Metropolitan area, by delivering more than 2,000 margherita pizzas to the low-income individuals.
