Salem County Inter-Agency Council Of Human Services

The salem county leased apt. Program - a transitional supportive housing program targeting homless families and individuals who are residents of salem county. The homeless populations served include the mentally ill, developmentally disbaled, persons with aids as well as others with socioeconomic issues.

Juvenile detention alternatives initiative - provides a framework of strategies that help reduce the inappropriate use of secure juvenile detention, while maintaining public safety and court appearance rates. A major focus of the work is reducing the disparate use of detention for minority youth.

Social impact intership- a first-time employment experience and professional development for youth ages 15-18 from salem and penns grove cities.

Hsac program - community based human services planning and advocacy respnsible for review and comment on human service funding proposals; preparation of allocation plans and review of existing purchase of service contracts. Also fosters coordination among local, state, and national public and private organizations serving the citizens of salem county.

Other programs - established to provide support for various social services needs of the residents of salem county.

Children's iac coordinating council - the purpose of the ciacc is to coordinate specialized services to youth and young adults and their families ewho have emotional and behavioral challenges.

Continuum of care - supports the code blue in salem county steering committee as it plans and implements services at warming centers for the homeless and others in need during the winter. Warming centers were provided at the john b. Campbell family & fitness center in salem city and at the river church in penns grove through a network of volunteers.

Prevention services - provides outreach,case management and other support services for families in need so that they can achieve independence and self-sufficiency as a base from which their future and their children's future can flourish.

Delinquency preventions (fast) - an eight week family/parent program designed to build relationships and protective factors that address school failure, substance abuse, gang activity, violence, delinquency, and child abuse and neglect. It empowers parents to be the primary prevention agents for their own children.

Parent's anonymous - a free volunteer-based support group for parents who are concerned about their relationships with their children. They meet every thursday evening as a group to share feelings about themselves, their parenting and other related issues.

Pregnancy prevention - an outreach program targeting teens who may be at risk of becoming pregnant before they are ready to have children. The program focuses on healthy relationships and potential risk of std's.
