Salmon unlimited - wisconsin, inc. Is an organization dedicated to promoting and preserving the tradition of fresh water fishing. The main way we try to accomplish this is through education. Salmon unlimited host several fishing events where the public can learn about fish and fishing techniques, publishes a newsletter with educational content, sponsors learning events for children, and provides fish population data and even funds to the wisconsin department of natural resources (wdnr) to maintain fish stocks. Meetings are called for the second wednesday of each month.
In cooperation with the great lakes observing system, salmon unlimited purchased a data buoy in 2021 with the help of a grant from the us department of commerce - national oceanic and atmospheric administration. This buoy will be deployed in lake michigan in the spring of 2022. This buoy will provide important weather and water condition information that will be important for freshwater conservation efforts. It will also provide important boater safety and sportfishing condition information. Access to the data will be free to the public and available in real-time.
