To perpetuate the memory of sam houston and to educate the public on the significance of his accomplishments and contributions to the state of tennessee and to this country; to preserve, promote, maintain and operate the sam houston schoolhouse state historic site as a place of historical and educational significance; to emphasize the significance of early american education on the frontier and to promote and preserve the schoolhouse site as an example thereof.
