To restore and preserve the mill site and other historical buildings of sanborn mills, to preserve the historical and cultural heritage of a 19th century new england farm, and to educate the general public, specifically craftspeople, scholars, and historians.

Using the model of a traditional new england diversified working farm (agricutural fields, managed forests, timber framed barns for animals, etc.). The farm serves as a place to apply the lessons learned from the past to current needs for sustainability and community.
