The clare eddy thaw animal hospital, which opened in the fall of 2013, offers veterinary services to the general public, including a sliding scale for income-qualified residents. We maintain a st. Francis veterinary emergency fund to help families afford necessary veterinary care, even during a time of crisis. Our spay/neuter & wellness clinic offers low-cost, high quality spay/neuter and vaccination programs and provided 2991 spay/neuter surgeries to area animals in 2024 in an effort to reduce animal overpopulation.

Casa program community assistancelaunched in 2022, the casa (community assistance for santa fe animals) program serves as a vital safety net to help keep pets and their people together during difficult times. Casa provides support for pet families by offering free spay/neuter services, pet food, help with unexpected veterinary bills, and assistance with fees related to city or county ordinances. Additional services include vaccinations, id tags, microchipping, pet licensing, temporary housing solutions, and protective support for pets in crisis.2024 casa impact: 956 pets received assistance through the casa program! We covered $102,777 in veterinary and medical expenses, along with $20,509 for spay/neuter and vaccine support. To help pets return home, $14,306 in shelter, city, and county fees were paid on behalf of families. Additionally, 45,053 pounds of pet food were distributed to support pets in need.
