Mission

Sass go is on a mission to help individuals and communities prevent, intervene and respond to physical and sexual abuse against women. We do this through prevention education, self defense training, and case consulting. Together we work hard to protect and support survivors, their families, and the professionals who serve them.

Programs

3 programs

Instructor training, development, and management: sass go instructors live in states across the country and share the power of sass programming with women and girls in their communities. Each instructor is hand selected and extensively trained ensuring utmost standard of care for every participant entrusted to sass go. The sass go instructor training is three phases, and once completed, instructors are certified to teach sass go self-defense courses in their communities. In 2024, sass go offered instructor training in minneapolis, minnesota and continued to support the nearly 30 instructors operating across the country. These instructors were offered educational and engagement opportunities. Sass go assists instructors in developing courses in their area and meeting ongoing requirements for certification as sass go instructors.

Crisis response consulting and survivor care: drawing on its own expertise and the expertise of individuals in the fields of campus safety, criminal justice, law enforcement, threat assessment, personal safety and domestic violence, sass go works with institutions, businesses, and departments to establish high functioning and efficient response systems in advance of and after a crisis. We also work with survivors and their families to help them efficiently and effectively navigate the legal, medical, advocacy, counseling, and law enforcement systems to ensure critical support and preservation of options. As part of crisis response consulting, sass go created the green screen testing kits. The green screen is a kit being used in south carolina to help identify, investigate, and end involuntary druggings. In addition, in 2024, sass go continued to lay the foundation for the banks. The banks will be a state-of-the-art campus for survivors, their families, and the professionals that serve them. In order to secure a future that is safer from violence and abuse, we must train our community to predict and prevent it, care for those who've endured it, and ensure best practices training for the professionals responding to it. The banks will be a centralized campus that will provide the coordinated support, guidance, and skills our communities need.

Expenses: $43K

Raising awareness of the epidemic of violence against women and girls: through social media, our website, educational materials and programs, and speaking engagements, sass go is raising awareness of the epidemic of violence against women and girls. Educating communities and individuals as to the scope of the program and available resources is a critical step in preventing violence and supporting survivors.
