We assisted 4 individuals with veterinary services through the josh diehm memorial fund for $625 to help owners who have fallen on difficult times keep their pets, three programs have been in place since january 2012: pet partership, safekeeping, and a pet food pantry. These programs help low-income county residents who are temporarily unable to care for their pets or who have emergency pet food or housing needs. These programs are designed to help residents keep their pets rather than giving them away or surrending them to the shelter. In 2024, we assisted 105 individuals through these programs and 90 pets.
In an effort to curb pet overpopulation, the sauk county humane society operates the areas only low cost spay/neuter clinic. We spayed or neutered 1,117 cats in 2024. We provide low cost vaccines for 15 cats and 30 dogs and we microchipped 1 cat and 3 dogs.
