Advancing quality education in sierra leone through local partnerships.

School support: through our school support program, in 2024 schools for salone and its partner organizations constructed two primary schools (including a well and latrines) in underserved communities in sierra leone (pentagon and musaia). We also repaired a latrine and equipped one of the new schools with a solar-power system. Two older schools (gbaama and bendu) were also repaired in 2024. In addition, 2024 school support funds were used to provide: 1. Books and learning supplies to 11 schools2. Sexual and reproductive health education plus reusable menstrual pads for 437 girls and health kits to 379 boys at 12 schools, and teacher training and certification support to teachers at 7 schools3. Inspiring reader refresher training for teachers at 2 schools.
Teacher supportin 2024, schools for salone's partner organization, the learning foundation, conducted literacy training workshops for 51 teachers and lead remedial reading clubs for 685 students and 19 teachers.additionally, sfs partnered with the sierra leone book trust to implement the inspiring readers programme which brings library books and resources to rural primary school across sierra leone. 7 teachers were trained to implement this program impacting 250 students. Salbot also helped train 19 teachers as volunteer librarians for one school library and one community library. 10 teachers also participated in sierra leone's ministry of education teacher certification program.
Other programs and achievements library programs: started three additional inspiring readers program in the northern province of sierra leone. This program provides library books to rural primary schools by providing each school with a small, cupboard library. Trained 23 teachers to implement this program. Student support: sponsored 101 students through scholarships to ensure they continue to pursue their education. Bicycle project: distributed 439 bikes to students who live long distances from school books & supplies: provided school supplies to 24 schools, three times a year (per each term). General mission: provided operational support for five sierra leone non-profit partner organizations that implement all our programming in last mile communities across sierra leone.
