Extra fun science programming: science camps, after-school, and stem events - our extra fun science programming features summer camps, after-school sessions, and stem events, all designed to deliver engaging, hands-on science experiences. In 2023, we served over 400 students and hosted several school-based events, focusing on quality and alignment with state standards. Two full scholarships, valued at $499 each (totaling $998), were given to campers from underserved communities, allowing them to experience hands-on science learning despite financial barriers. Looking ahead, we aim to expand these offerings, secure additional funding, lower camp costs, provide more scholarships, and grow our after-school programs. Our goal is to ensure every child can enjoy the excitement of science and build friendships, regardless of their financial situation.
In-school hands-on science fun field trip- our in-school hands-on science fun field trips transform classrooms into interactive science labs where all students are involved in exciting, hands-on experiments. We awarded 50 student scholarship fee waivers (valued at $15 each, totaling $750 to students who could not afford the program fee, helping underserved schools participate fully. In 2023, we expanded our catalog offerings to include 44 hands-on science programs, all aligned with the updated north carolina science curriculum standards. We also focused on early childhood development and added new programming for preschool, pre-k, and special needs students, emphasizing fun, interactive, and standards-based learning. Moving forward, we are dedicated to growing this program, especially in underserved rural schools, to bring enriching, in-person science experiences to even more students.
