Mission
The pink polka dots junior orthopedic guild (jog) was founded in memory of sydney coxon to support seattle children's hospital (a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt hospital) by raising awareness and funds for pediatric brain tumor research. Sydney was only 11 years old when she died in early 2006 after her battle with a virtually untreatable brainstem glioma, a rare type of brain tumor. When the guild was formed in march 2006, the three founding members were in 6th grade. They are now in college and the guild has grown to include more friends of sydney, the guild members' younger sisters, and their friends and family members. After witnessing sydney's heartbreaking fight with her illness, the guild members don't want any other child or family to face the same experience.it is the goal of the pink polka dots jog to raise enough money for researchers to find a cure or more effective treatment for brain tumors. The funds raised support the groundbreaking research of dr. Jim olson.
