Launched in fall 2024, second helpings atlanta's field to fork program rescues fresh, surplus produce from georgia farms that would otherwise go to waste. Through this program, sha pays farmers a fair price to cover the costs of growing, harvesting, and transporting their surplus produce to sha's warehouse in atlanta. This fresh produce is then distributed free of charge to sha's network of nonprofit partner agencies, ensuring nutritious food reaches communities in need while also supporting the economic sustainability of local farmers.
