In the wake of Hurricane Helene in WNC, SeekHealing provided critical mental health first aid services to people across the region. SeekHealing volunteers and facilitators are trained citizens, neighbors and peers. Our staff coordinated these community superheroes to host trauma-informed events where participants could process their disaster experience and receive direct services for non-clinical mental health support.
In 2024, SeekHealing hosted its annual Overdose Awareness Day event where we partnered with 15 other local community organizations. We provided a memorial space for those that have lost loved ones to overdose recently and historically. We served about 100+ community members to have access to overdose education, emotional community support and direct access to community resources to help people access pathways to recovery.
