Mission
Selva Libre (Organization) is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation engaged in the conservation of the biological and cultural diversity in the Western Amazon rainforest. The Organization's mission is: (1) the protection and regeneration of the Amazon rainforest in order to combat global warming and climate change; (2) the conservation of the biological and cultural diversity in the Western Amazon rainforest, by both (a) protecting land and restoring ecosystem services and wildlife habitat to support biodiversity of the region through the direct purchase of both intact and degraded tracts of rainforest, and (b) working with local indigenous partners to protect and conserve geographical areas of key cultural and biological importance. The Organization will achieve its goals with three broad projects in mind: (1) Reforestation and Nursery (2) Scientific Research and Education (3) Creating "Green Sector" employment opportunities.
