During 2023-2024, the organization self-sustain the economic and physical resources to continue providing medical services along with the following: 1.aurora program results (november 2023): the puerto rico department of health recognized our implementation of the aurora program, a pioneering initiative that, in just two years, has proven effective in reducing premature births. This unique model on the island positions our hospital as a leader in perinatal health. 2.historic accreditation (december 2023): in december 2023, we received, for the first time, full and unconditional accreditation from the joint commission, reaffirming our commitment to excellence, patient safety, and quality healthcare services. 3.collaboration agreement with the lunas project (march 2024): we partnered for the implementation of the "hope in the box" program, which aims to provide direct and tangible support to mothers and fathers during the process of perinatal or neonatal loss through a gift of hope. Each "hope in a box" is intended to promote a healthy grieving process, offering hope and support to those facing perinatal or neonatal loss. 4.recognition in organ donation (april 2024): we were recognized by the u.s. Department of health and human services and lifelink for our exemplary leadership in promoting organ and tissue donation. 5.innovation award (april 2024): we received the team of the year award at the lifelink innovation awards, acknowledging our effective strategies and the extraordinary teamwork demonstrated by our professionals. 6.recognition of our heroes (may 2024): several of our employees were honored by the puerto rico hospital association in categories such as community impact, patient impact, and response to extraordinary events. The story of jennifer snchez and little sarah deeply moved us and reminded us of the true purpose of our vocation. 7.celebrating our legacy (may 2024): during hospital week, we honored the founders of our institution and staff members who have dedicated 40 years of continuous service to our community, highlighting the value of their careers and legacy. 8.center of excellence (december 2024): we ended the year with the re- accreditation as a center of excellence in bariatric and metabolic surgery by the surgical review corporation, remaining the only hospital in puerto rico to hold this prestigious certification. 9.hospital representation at professional meetings and seminars: our institution was represented at events such as the college of health services administrators, the hospital association, ache, ases, and the department of health. 10.capital improvements investment: an ongoing investment of 4,261,591 in capital improvements, including remodeling of patient-use bathrooms, renovation and expansion of the emergency room, intensive care unit and medical gas systems, and the acquisition of an x-ray machine.
