Sharefest's Youth Leadership Academy is a year-round career workforce development program for students attending or graduating from six Continuation High Schools in the South LA and Harbor areas of Los Angeles. Working closely with school administrators and teachers under an agreement with the LAUSD (that does not include funding), Sharefest's Youth Leadership Academy (YLA) delivers credit-eligible College and Career Development courses at the school site that encompass foundational personal growth work in Socio-Emotional Learning, Purpose Education, Professional Development, College/Career Access, Entrepreneurship, and Financial Literacy. YLA Instructors serve as Mentors, with group mentoring built into the class time and 1-on-1 mentoring available on a regular basis. The YLA includes Case Management to support student mental health through trauma-informed system navigation assistance, and linkages to additional resources, including school-based psychiatric social workers.
