Production: healing tree produces theatre, film and television designed to empower the social change necessary to create a healing movement. Our short film 'silk' (used in the 'silk' screening + workshop program) is a prime example of this. In 2024 we started developing our next short film 'the knock shadow'. This film explores the orgins of the modern trauma field and the early days of treatment modalities emdr and ifs through the lens of a psychological thriller. In 2024, healing tree also started developing a full-length play, 'the big bad', which deals with intergenerational trauma and marginalized identities, to be produced in collaboration with our partner divine riot. Both of these projects will have an impact campaign accompanying them, furthering our mission.

Silk screening + workshop: healing tree's 'silk' screening + workshop explores the hardest to spot red flags of abuse and trauma. This program centers around a screening of our short film 'silk', which was an official selection at an academy award qualifying festival, was directed by john magaro ('past lives', 'carol', 'the big short') and stars mainstream talent. 'silk' follows a gifted aerialist who struggles to recognize she's being gaslit by her new boyfriend. The accompanying workshop dives deeper into what was illustrated on screen. A powerpoint presentation explores red flags of psychological abuse including gaslighting, love bombing, blame shifting, projection and stonewalling as well as unexpected ways trauma impacts the brain and body. We also cover tools for effective intervention and healing. Additionally, we lead participants through grounding exercises before and after the film and end with a q&a.

Approved care network (this program is on pause due to lack of funding): healing tree provides a free, nationwide directory of trauma-focused mental health providers. We work to connect individuals with professionals who are brain-body based trauma experts and who also fit their unique needs. This could include being a therapist of color, a queer therapist or a faith-based therapist, as well as one who takes their insurance or offers sliding scale. We include providers trained in various, leading, brain-body based modalities, including eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (emdr) therapy, somatic experiencing (se), sensorimotor psychotherapy, brainspotting (bsp) and internal family systems (ifs). Our team personally vets them with phone interviews and we file their certificates in these modalities. Our acn also includes treatment facilities, creative arts therapists and more. As of 2024, healing tree has approved providers in 40 of the united states.brainspotting therapy training: brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms. Thanks to the generosity of susan pinco, mssw, phd, bcd, deb antinori, ma, lpc, ft, rdt, and regina guthrie faridnia, phd, lcsw, healing tree is able to periodically offer bipoc clinician scholarship slots for phase i and ii of online brainspotting therapy training. As of 2024, healing tree has provided scholarships to 54 bipoc clinicians.fiscal sponsorships: healing tree offers fiscal sponsorships for film, television, theatre and other projects which are in alignment with our mission. Being fiscally sponsored by a nonprofit means that your project gets to benefit from the 501(c)(3) status that we have, making your donors' (monetary and in kind i.e. Camera equipment, locations, food) contributions tax-deductible. A small percentage is charged in order to cover our administrative costs to oversee the fiscal sponsorship and budgetary documentation must be provided for our records. Please note, fiscal sponsorship does not mean that the nonprofit provides funding for your project.trauma consulting: healing tree offers trauma consulting for arts professionals and organizations. Our diverse roster of trauma experts can work with you to ensure that the film, television show, play or musical you are developing depicts issues of mental illness, abuse, addiction and related topics in an accurate and trauma-informed way. They can also collaborate with your organization to ensure it is trauma-informed and help tackle any specific concerns. Theatre authority fundraising beneficiary: according to actors' equity association, "if you are planning a fundraising benefit or telethon and wish to engage equity actors and stage managers, you must clear your event through the theatre authority. Theatre authority is a nonprofit organization that administers and regulates the free appearances of performers and provides assistance to members of the theatrical community." healing tree is grateful to be able to act as the 501(c)(3) nonprofit beneficiary of such productions that are in alignment with our mission.
