Journal - the shock journal is run by dr. Daniel remick, the editor-in-chief, and is one of the premier scientific journals for publication of shock, trauma, burns, sepsis, and resuscitation research. The current publisher is wolters kluwer, and we ahve a contract with them which provide a guaranteed sum every year, plus quarterly royalties, dependent on subscriptions. From this revenue, the shock society provides financial support for the shock journal editorial office, plus an honorarium for the eic. A portion of each member dues is also returned back to the journal as subscirption costs, which are billed quarterly.

Expenses: $212K

Awards and grants - the sock society provides a large number of travel awards to offset costs for trainees and students to travel to and attend the annual meeting. These awards are based on quality of abstract submissions as determined by the awards committee. We also have seperate awards for under-presented minority applicants to attend the meeting. This is based on need and quality of research in the abstract submission as determined by the diversity committee. There are 6 new investigator awards based on quality of abstracts by trainees as determined by the awards committee. These winners get an oral presentation and an additional amount awarded. We also award two new research grant awards: one to a trainee member, and one to a faculty researcher. These awards are based on submissions of a grant prior to the annual meeting and decided by the awards committee, and are for up to 2 years of research work.
