Mission

To build healthier and more just communities by making bicycling safe and accessible for everyone. We envision a community that values, includes, and encourages bicycling for all purposes for all people. Our overarching goal is to increase the number and diversity of people using bicycles for everyday transportation.

Programs

2 programs

Bike Safety & Skills Education - educators provided bike riding skills, bicycle security, and bicycle maintenance courses to nearly 1,000 people. These included but were not limited to: Learn to Ride, Smart Cycling 1 & 2, Basic Bike Repair, Bicycle Security, Winter Riding, Women & Biking.

Expenses: $314K

Advocacy & Community Organizing - staff helped individuals from 9 cities organize to advocate for safer biking and walking, lead easy community bike rides, and increase "local team" participation. To this end, the staff created and published a toolkit for "local teams" which are city-based groups of concerned citizens. This resource provides support for those interested in encouraging local governments to invest in roadway and other infrastructure changes to make bicycling safer and more accessible for more people. Advocacy staff held monthly forums and quarterly trainings drawing an average number of attendees to forums of 56. All nine teams saw increases in membership.
