Mission
Singing Winds offers multilingual arts education, storytelling series, concerts and folk art festivals, featuring traditional folklore, music, dance, arts and crafts from the cultures of immigrant residents of the Kensington neighborhood in Brooklyn. All Singing Winds programs explore the creative use of public space to celebrate the vibrant cultural diversity of Brooklyn communities, build relationships among neighbors, and initiate meaningful dialogue that can transcend language barriers and cultural divisions.

Folk Art workshops for families and youth. 3350 children and their families participated in 150 free music, dance and art activities during workshops and drop-in events in community centers, playgrounds and plazas in Kensington, Brooklyn
Arts-in-Education. 425 students in grades K - 5 participated in folk art classes in traditional Central American folk dance and crafts, Bengali Dance and Puppetry, and Chinese folklore, music, dance, martial arts and shadow puppetry. Their performances and/or artwork were presented during Singing Winds' cultural festivals for families. 240 students in grades K - 5 participated in an after-school program with folk art classes in Central American and South Asian sculpting, printing, painting and mask-making
