THE ORIGINAL WALKING PATH WAS PART OF AN OVERALL PROJECT THAT INCLUDED BUILDING THREE NEW LITTLE LEAGUE FIELDS, PUTTING IN A WALKING PATH AND BUILDING A NEW PARKING LOT FOR THE COMPLEX. THE WALKING PATH HAS BEEN A TREMENDOUS SUCCESS, IN FACT SUCH A SUCCESS THAT IT HAS CAUSED US THE NEED TO EXTEND IT. ON ANY GIVEN SUMMER NIGHT, ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE ARE GAMES, THE WALKING PATH WILL HAVE TWENTY TO THIRTY PEOPLE USING IT, EITHER WALKING OR RIDING BIKE. THE PUBLIC HAS BEEN ASKING US TO LENGTHEN THE PATH AROUND ANOTHER FIELD WHICH WILL DOUBLE THE LENGTH. IN A LOCAL NEEDS ASSESSMENT THE CITY CONDUCTED, NEARLY 60% OF THE PEOPLE SURVEYED FELT IT WAS IMPORTANT TO MAINTAIN AND IMPROVE THE PHYSICAL HEALTH OF THE PEOPLE AND THE WALKING PATH IS THE MOST USED PHYSICAL ACTIVITY IN OUR COMMUNITY.
