Slovenska pristava annually holds a week-long, overnight summer camp for students of the slovenian language schools of st. Vitus and the church of st. Mary of the assumption-collinwood parishes, as well as for children of slovenska pristava members. Parents pay a nominal fee in order for their children to attend camp pristava. Slovenska pristava donates the use of the grounds to camp pristava for the week, covering all operational costs except of food and some materials needed for camp week. The slovenska pristava grounds are closed for the week to any non-members. Camp pristava brings together children of slovenian descent to learn more about their culture, religious traditions, heritage, language, and music. In the 2024 camp, camp pristava had a (continued on schedule o)total enrollment of approximately 175 campers, junior counselors (camp corps), counselors, and weekend family campers (for youngest children) who participated in camp pristava. All counselors and adult supervisors volunteer their time. No stipends or salaries are paid to counselors or the camp leadership team.
Slovenska pristava serves to be a cultural center for slovenians in greater cleveland and north america. Slovenska pristava is home to many cultural events, picnics, fundraisers, and religious events. These events highlight an array of slovenian culture, traditions, and music/art. The grounds and swimming pool are maintained as per the slovenska pristava bylaws to offer a property where slovenian families can remain rooted in their ancestral heritage. Groups that utilize the slovenska pristava grounds vary from local slovenian parishes/slovenian schools, a slovenian missions fundraising organization, slovenian fraternal organizations, regional slovenian groups, as well as slovenska pristava itself. Various groups (musical, dance, folklore) from outside of the united states (continued on schedule o)(slovenia and canada) come to perform for individuals of both slovenian descent as well as non-slovenians. Slovenska pristava maintains a state of the art facility with chapel, modern swimming pool, campgrounds, cultural center, sporting facilities, and access to the grand river in order to create an atmosphere similar to what is found in slovenia itself as well as being user friendly for our guests and renters.
