Mission
The Smyrna Charity Assistance Fund provides aid to selected nonprofit charitable organizations that provide year-round services benefitting the general welfare of residents of the municipality.
Programs
11 programs
The Nourish Food Bank exists to feed families across Rutherford County. Each client receives a grocery cart of food consisting of perishable and non-perishable items. Personal care items are also provided. The Nourish Food Bank serves approximately 9000 residents.
Boys and girls club works to save and change the lives of children and teens, especailly those who need us most, but providing a safe, positive, and engaging environment and programs that prepare and inspire them to achieve great futures. More than 2,600 youths across Rutherford County are taking advantage of these programs.
CASA of Rutherford County - provides Juvenile Court services. Provides services toappoximately 100 Smyrna residents.
Domestic Violence Center - provides shelter and food to victims of domestic violence. Serves approximately 250 residents of Smyrna.
Smyrna Senior Citizens - Smyrna Senior Citizens provides services and programs for older adults in the Smyrna area. These programs healthy aging and independence. The agency provides opportunies for social interaction, recreation, and basic support.
Community Helpers - addresses the fundamental needs of the most vulnerable populations in Rutherford County. This organization assists individuals and families experiencing unexpected financial crises, which can lead to utility and housing struggles as well as issues securing prescribed medications.
Doors of Hope - a long term rehabilitative reentry program where women being released from incarceration or drug rehab can restructure life for a better future. This program serves approximately 1800 women.
Carpe Artista - provides access to the Arts for disadvantaged children, and sponsors a Farmer's Market as well. Approximately 150 local residents are served.
Possibility Place provides job training and volunteer skills where the participant can contribute to society and find personal fulfillment. They also provide training for independent living skills, computer skills, and healthy lifestyle habits. This organization gives developmentally challenegd individuals opportunities for the participants to grow mentally, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.
Ables Recreation Association - establoshed in 1991. It provides recreational activities and events for special needs children and adults in Rutherford county, as well as 4 surrounding counties. Activities include bowling, softball, field trips, holiday dances, and other social gatherings.
