Sno-Isle Regional Library Foundation

Sno-isle libraries' third graders read together program promotes literacy, reading proficiency, lifelong learning, and teamwork skills, which encourage future academic success for 3rd grade students. In 2024, the foundation invested $31,412 in the program, enabling sno-isle libraries to bring 3,100 otter books to 75 schools and 5,300 students. Nearly 700 third graders and educators attended the online events with the authors and illustrators.

Sno-isle libraries summer reading program encourages student literacy and academic success while helping students avoid declining educational ability during the summer vacation. In 2024, we had a total of 6,308 program finishers with 2.2 million minutes read and 10,500 people attended a total of 346 events. Funding from the foundation helped provide prize books for program finishers at the mariner, lakewood/smokey point, monroe, mountlake terrace, and stanwood libraries as well as 1,700 prize books to program participants at 15 boys & girls clubs.

Prime time, a program designed to build a lifelong love of learning, literacy, and leadership. Offered in partnership with sno-isle libraries foundation and humanities wa, prime time is a free, six-week, elementary-age reading program designed to engage, educate, and support children and their families.prime time enhances family engagement and develops critical thinking skills. Participants enjoy weekly reading and discussion groups guided by skilled facilitators. Discussion topics dig into major themes of children's literature including fairness, bravery, equality, and kindness. Families receive a shared meal or a grocery gift card, books to borrow, information about library resources, childcare for younger siblings, and books to keep for their home library.
