Southern Africa Energy Futures programme involves mapping out the energy systems in three countries of Southern Africa with the intention to promote dialogue on the readiness of these countries to embark on a journey of transitioning their national energy systems from reliance on fossil fuels to renewable energy.

Nexus programming aims at deepening SID's systemic analysis and guiding the formulation of our current narratives with the intent of helping to formulate more robust policy proposals in view of the current challenges we face at various levels. It also seeks to enhance SID's role in facilitating cross-sectoral dialogue bringing together diverse constituencies in the areas of food, global health, corporate encroachment and takeover of multilateral decision making spaces, as well as the broader interlinked challenges that global governance actors must face.

Energy Futures programme promotes policy dialogue on the potential of energy to play a transformative role in the development of Eastern Africa and promotes an approach that proposes to tackle energy poverty by pursuing actions that enable (largely) rural populations to benefit from investments in local grids and associated economic activities.

The African Transformation initiative seeks to revitalize a new iteration of civil society-led efforts to promote dialogue and harness Africa's untapped potential, while addressing pressing challenges, with the aim of fostering sustainable pathways to socio-economic transformation. It will focus on understanding the mesostructure around regional integration and how this can contribute to the above-stated goal.

SID Futures progamme uses scenario planning to promote reconciliation and policy dialogue around topical questions. The use of the future as a space for dialogue enables diverse stakeholders to meet and explore options and opportunities without feeling the need to be held back by the divisions of the present and the past. SID's work in this area encompasses a broad area of engagements from territorial (Ethiopia) to focusing on critical contemporary questions such as climate change and renewable energy.

The Food Systems Transformation (FoSTr) program supports food systems foresight through a country-led, multi-stakeholder process aimed at transforming national food systems in Kenya. This initiative facilitates dialogue, analysis, and understanding essential to co-creating future food systems that are sustainable, healthy, equitable, and resilient, while also promoting global networking and knowledge-sharing with other countries.
