Affordable community veterinarian care programs: in 2024, spca-nn fixed 2,814 owned pets through our community snyps (spay/neuter your pets) program and gave 80 spay/neuter vouchers. Our affordable spay/neuter clinic and vouchers for dogs and cats are available to northern nevada residents with a total household income of 60,000 or less. There are many reasons why you should spay/neuter your pet: a) to help mitigate the high national rate of companion animal euthanasia; b) to prevent unwanted pregnancies and litters; c) to help your pet live a longer, healthier life. The todd's medical fund program helped 231 pets get the vital veterinarian care they need and deserve spca-nn served 10,258 owned pets through our affordable vaccination/microchip program, plus 706 pets received free vaccines at our 1-day public event spca-nn provided 24 dental vouchers to pets with dental disease grade 4. Spca-nn pays private vet clinic partner(s) for the dental post-adoption. This way the pets can recover in their new homes instead of waiting at the adoption center for dentals before being available for adoption. Additionally, spca-nn conducted 13 specialty surgeries in house, including amputations, eye enucleations, mass removals, joint repair, and other critical surgeries.

Thrift store: the spca-nn thrift store receives gently used and new donations of clothing, shoes, pet goods, furniture, artwork, accessories, and household goods that are inventoried, organized, and sold to the public. All thrift store proceeds support our adoption center programs (see program a above), and our affordable community veterinary care programs (see program b above). Due to the extreme amount of clothing donations, we also partner with social services organizations to provide clothing to their clients to help support these vulnerable human populations dress for job interviews and transition back into society after incarceration, homelessness, domestic violence, addiction, recovery, etc.

Community volunteer program: spca-nn offers many opportunities for individuals and organizations to give back to the community through charitable service. Our volunteer outreach program works to offer seniors, students, people with disabilities, and court-ordered community service options to share their time helping and improving the lives of pets in need. In 2024, volunteers spent 25,546 hours assisting spca-nn staff with daily chores including dishes, laundry, sweeping, mopping, pooper scooping, in-kennel enrichment, dog walking, cat socializing, and processing donations at our thrift store. We had 452 "active" volunteers, which we define as those who volunteered more than once during the calendar year.
