The STFM Foundation was formed to carry out certain charitable, educational, literary, and scientific purposes of STFM, including to promote and maintain the high standards of the teaching of family medicine.

Underrepresented in Family Medicine (URM) Program - The foundation program for Underrepresented in Family Medicine (URM) reflects an initiative to increase resources and support to URM Faculty, URM community teachers, and URM medical students and residents going into academic family medicine. The definition of URM in this context is racial and ethnic populations underrepresented in the medical profession relative to numbers in the general population.
STFM Project Fund - The STFM Project was formed to respond to the expressed needs of STFM members for funding research and education by establishing these funds. The fund encourages groups to collaboratively plan, implement, evaluate, and disseminate findings from educationally related scholarly projects.
