Mission
To promote technical excellence by providing a global forum to inform, educate, and engage the members, the technical community, and the public on all aspects of vacuum coating, surface engineering, and related technologies.

Education courses - educational seminars for the dissemination of technical material in the field of vacuum coating. The organization's broad education program includes a comprehensive list of short courses on the fundamentals of vacuum coating and related technologies, and a unique self-paced on-line tutorial.
Technical publications - educational publications for the dissemination of technical material in the field of vacuum coating. Publications include, but are not limited to, bulletins published three times per year and the annual technical conference proceedings which provide views on specialized topics.
Student sponsorships are provided to selected individuals to enable them to attend the annual technical conference. Stipends are paid directly to the recipients and some payments are made directly to the billing source to cover related expenses of the conference.
