Family peace center advocacy (fpc) - this advocacy program provides individualized support, case management style, to survivors. Advocates provide information and referrals, help accessing services, safety planning, and emotional support. The program had 5,252 contacts with 2,053 clients.
Shelter - offerings include a domestic abuse hotline, 53 bed emergency shelter, and basic needs assistance for survivors of abuse. The hotline is answered by trained staff and volunteers who provide emotional support to survivors in crisis, offer information and referrals to internal programs and community resources, and take reports from law enforcement about abuse-related incidents. Sojourner recorded 12,533 calls to the hotline and 2,004 outgoing follow up calls and 15,293 nights of shelter to 321 individuals, including adults who were fleeing abuse and their children.
Other program services:healing services this department consists of children's programming, hope & healing, and russian-speaking family strengthening program (rfsp). Children's programming consists of children and youth, as well as family, programming including support groups, art and music activities, drop in support, and camp hope wisconsin. Hope & healing provides educational, curriculum based, peer support groups, facilitated by trained staff. Rfsp provides culturally and linguistically specific individual and group support to survivors in russian. Program statistics: children's programming, 516 individuals served; 3,203 contacts. Hope & healing, 397 individuals served; 1,281 contacts. Rfsp, 41 individuals served; 722 contacts.community domestic abuse advocacy program (cdaap) advocates are located in milwaukee police district stations and suburban departments. They conduct safety planning, connect them to resources, linking them to sojourner and other community based services, and discuss the next steps in the criminal legal process, ensuring that they are aware of their rights. A pilot project within this program includes advocates responding on-scene to domestic violence calls. Program statistics: 3,491 individuals served; 5,146 contacts.courthouse advocacy program advocates provide assistance with filing restraining orders, including accompaniment to injunction hearings, developing safety plans, and linking clients to additional services to support survivors. Program statistics: 4697 individuals served; 15,586 contacts, and 306 outgoing follow up calls.community education program staff provide outreach, education, prevention, and professional trainings related to domestic abuse. Types of outreach and education include attending and staffing resource tables at community events, providing workshops to youth and families about healthy relationships, and participating in panel discussions. Program statistics: 99 events; 4,816 total participants.
