Community organizing program - sbcc supports the work of the network of "neighborhood action council" (nac) throughout la county. A nac is a group of community members that build relationships around shared values and then design and implement projects, programs and events to improve their lives and the life of the community. Funding sources include casey foundation and the state of california/office of community partnership and stratigic communicaons that directly builds and manage campaigns related to covid 19 vaccines and harm reduction, water conservation, individual taxpayer indentifications number (itin) and extreme heat along with other changes as needs arise. Sbcc canvassers conduct interactive engagement via door to door canvassing, outreach events, trainings and workshops. Also through the state of california/health and human services agency, sbcc works to maintain and expand existing family resource centers through establishing regional branch offices in rural areas of neighborhoods, to provide family support/service, resource and referrals. Thru united way, sbcc trains and outreaches to clients about california emergency renters assistance program (erap)

Guranteed income pilot program sbcc is the program administrator for the first la county guaranteed income pilot where 1000 individuals receive $1000 a month for three years. This program aims to support families in determining their own well-being. Sbcc provides an economic development coach to provide support throughout the 3 years via service referrals, economic counseling, and as a connector between the participant and the county.
