Programs
3 programs
Workforce division. Through contracts from the southwest oregon workforce investment board and the willamette workforce partnership, scb provides workforce innovation and opportunity act (wioa) services in coos, curry, douglas, marion, and yamhill counties. Scbec and its predecessor have been providing workforce services and related business services continuously since 1977.
Early learning division. Our most recent additions are bandon community child care center in september 2019 and coos/curry shared services alliance in march 2020. These programs will contribute to the urgent need of stabilizing our local economy by assisting families to return to work and supporting childcare businesses using the principles of the iron triangle: full enrollment, timely cashflow, and leveraged government contributions.
Vita program for tax return:this project enables the volunteer income tax assistance (vita) program to extend services to underserved populations in hardest-to-reach areas, both urban and non-urban; increase the capacity to file returns electronically; heighten quality control; enhance training of volunteers; and improve significantly the accuracy rate of returns prepared at vita sites. For 2023 tax season 1430 tax returns were completed and with the assistance of 14 volunteers. Because of the efforts of our splendid volunteers and the faithful support of our sponsors we were able to get over $1.1 million into the hands of the taxpayers that need it the most.
