We operate the only child advocacy centers on the kenai peninsula including one in kenai and one in homer which provide vital assistance to children and non-offending caregivers. In coordination with a team of agencies including law enforcement, child services and forensic healthcare providers we assist children impacted by sexual abuse and severe physical abuse by offering services in a trauma informed setting using methods intended to minimize the additional trauma these victims can endure during the investigation process. In fy24 we saw 125 cases and provided support to 208 children.

Sphh's primary prevention efforts aim to reduce domestic violence and sexual assault through education, youth engagement, and community partnerships. The program emphasizes emotional and life skills development, fosters collaboration with faith-based organizations, and encourages youth participation in prevention initiatives. Girls on the run: a 12-week program combining physical activity and life skills development for 13 students (grades 36) with support from five volunteer coaches. The season concluded with a final 5k celebration involving 83 participants and tied to the bird festival migration run.upstander intervention: a homer high school program addressing bullying and promoting healthy relationships. Engaging over 1,000 student interactions, topics included consent laws, anti- bullying strategies, and healthy relationships through discussions and role-playing.the prevention coordinator collaborates with local organizations like the homer police department, kachemak bay college, and the lions club, supporting events like the pride celebration and parent university. Sphh also launched a community needs assessment in fy24 to guide future efforts.
